Using exercises from Linklater Voice, this enjoyable and interactive workshop will reduce your anxieties about speaking in public.

Become aware of habits that get in the way of effective communication and practice simple techniques to change them, so you can become a more confident and dynamic public speaker.

You will leave this workshop with a greater ability to hold up your end of a conversation, a debate, an interview or a presentation.

Some of the exercises may include simple physical movements, all of which can be adjusted to your individual physical needs.

 

Format

A six-hour session with breaks, in a small supportive group.

GMT: 3pm – 9pm

CET:  4pm – 10pm

EDT:  11am – 5pm

PDT:  8am – 2pm

 

What Do You Need? 

Loose comfortable clothing suitable for physical exercise. 

Space – enough floor space to stretch your arms and legs out, whether on the floor or while standing.

 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites. Curiosity and desire to explore, a willingness to develop your voice and fluent enough in English to understand Anne’s instructions would be welcome.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel more than 30 days before the workshop start date, a 100% refund will be provided.*

If you cancel within 30 – 14 days before the workshop start date a 50% refund will be provided.*

If you cancel within 14 days before the workshop start date no refund will be provided.

Subject to availability, the cost of any amount not refunded could be put towards the cost of another course.

The Centre reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any workshop or event at any time. Should the rescheduled dates or alternative offered by the Centre not be suitable to you we shall refund any payments made by you.

      Anne Brady

      Anne Brady is a Professor in the Theatre Department at Binghamton University (SUNY) where she is Head of the Acting/Directing Program and teaches Voice, Movement and Acting to both undergraduate and graduate students.   She has been a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher since 2003 and is a founding member of the KLVC.   Anne holds an MFA from Brandeis University and a BA from the College of the Holy Cross.

      At Binghamton University, Anne has directed over 20 plays and musicals and served as a voice/text coach and dialect coach on numerous other productions.  She also co-directed a production of “The Threepenny Opera” with students and faculty from both Binghamton University and DUOC Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile. This collaborative production that rehearsed and performed in Santiago, Chile, as well as at Binghamton University, received a prestigious grant from the Kurt Weill Foundation.

      Anne has often been part of the Voice & Text faculty at Shakespeare & Company’s (Lenox, Massachusetts) Month-Long Intensive Training Program for Actors as well as their Summer Training Institute.  Anne directs regionally and has worked as a vocal coach Off Broadway.  She has also worked as an actress in New York, New England, New Jersey, and Ohio.  Anne is a proud member of Actors’ Equity, SAG-AFTRA, VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association) and the National Alliance of Acting Teachers.

      In addition to in-depth training in voice and Shakespeare with Kristin Linklater, Anne has extensive training in a variety of acting techniques, physical theatre, somatic and vocal methodologies that she combines with Linklater’s work when coaching and directing.  Those methodologies include Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, Lucid Body, Stephen Wangh’s work, Michael Chekhov Technique, Meisner Technique, Authentic Movement, Viewpoints, Merry Conway/Trish Arnold work, Rodenburg Voice, Colaianni Phonetic Pillows, and Knight-Thompson Speechwork, among others.

      Anne also maintains a private practice working with actors as well as business professionals.  She has taught and coached lawyers, bankers, doctors, engineers, educators, and sales personnel to become more confident, expressive and inspiring communicators as well as more effective presenters.
